VOID: A failed reshoot or creative journey?

13.10.14

Once again I shot in my room and lit it using my lamp, a towel and a bed sheet. I want to experiment more with light, the absence of light and the impact it has on us as humans. But in the meanwhile here is the photo that I liked the best.

I decided to scrap the mask idea as it felt too cliche.  I started experimenting with surrealism, inspired by American photographer Kyle Thompson. He experiments with surrealism by using the ordinary objects around him to make something that appears to defy the laws of nature. For example:

I guess I liked the detail on the bedsheet and the way it curled up towards the head of the subject, appearing to suspend him from the head in mid air.

With my photo at the top of the page I also like the texture of the bed sheet. I also like the way the bed sheet coils up out of frame.

I want to reshoot this to try emulate this tornado-like effect without having it inside the triangle as it distracts from the photo, adding an extra unnecessary layer. I should be reshooting tonight with my friend Jamie so I'll update you as and when.
