"Light is the connection between us and the universe"
Kurzgesagt
Photons can only be created or destroyed - not split
other forms of light are invisible to the human eye (shown on the electromagnetic spectrum)

| What is Light? - Kurzgesagt |
I love light. I love the way it enables us to function effectively as human beings. It has the power to invoke an incredible array of emotions and affect our moods in so many different ways and combinations. Light is such an integral part of human life on earth and I wish to explore the ways different kinds of light can affect human emotional response, Light can also directly affect our health. for example, if a human is over exposed to UltraViolet light, they can develop a higher chance of developing skin cancer or other such diseases.
Light not only interacts with matter, it's also altered by it and can be used to gather information about the world around it with no delay or time constraints. All kinds of light travel at the same speed. They only differ in their wavelengths.
During my research, I came across a guy who ran an audio signal through the X and Y channels on a oscilloscope, which means you can see the wave of the sound you are hearing. This visual representation of raw data can be manipulated in software and visualised into surreal patterns and drawings.
It's hard to explain, so here is a video we can watch at a later time
I wish to explore the relationship between light and sound and how raw data can be transformed into video art. My intention is to represent a journey of light and sound and their interaction and effect on the immediate environment they exist within
So basically, light and sound enable so many things, and it is extremely diffcult to repurpose light because it has so many functions. My idea is to use a digital oscilloscope and translate physical, mathematical data into sound that forms patterns of light based on the in putted data
I also want to create some kind of interactive installation where I could program each key of a keyboard to play a sound that makes a different shape and allow people to mess around with it and make their own combinations of patterns and sounds
Or perhaps create video art using mathematical input data to visually represent sound using light
There is also ways to visualise these soundwaves dgitally. Using a program called FL Studio and a plugin called 'Wavecandy', one can input any audio (found or created) and output it in the format of an oscilloscope. This is something I will definitely be experimenting wit in the next few days.
All this premise is, is just a way of visualising sound in a new way exploring the relationship between sound and light, and how they can influence each other and work in conjunction with one another to re purpose one other
